Domestic violence is aggressive behavior of one partner toward another in an effort to gain and maintain control. Domestic violence can be verbal, physical, sexual, or psychological and will leave devastating emotional and physical scars. Women who experience domestic violence need encouragement and support to begin their journey to a safer life.
Children who are around domestic violence are affected too, even if they are never directly abused. They suffer severe emotional and psychological damage. Without proper counseling, children can believe domestic violence is normal leading to the repeated cycles of violence in their adult lives. These residual consequences have damaging effects in the child’s life.
